Merry Christmas from arroyoKimbro massageRanch!

With only 1.5 inches of rain, the flood is well underway. You can faintly see my tire tracks leading down to the low water crossing (where the waterfall is . . .)

Another angle of the low water crossing. Gauging the amount of water flow for rain is tricky; this is more water than we had on July 4th, when we had five inches of rain in one day. Since it is winter and all the agribusiness fields are plowed dirt with no plants, apparently three times as much water runs off. Probably a good case for no-till and cover crops . . .

My big Christmas gift this year is the pond! After waiting fifteen months with nary a drop staying in, this morning I woke up to a completely full pond. It will be a beautiful addition to the farm for sure, as well as inspiring other ponds. Now if I can just build the right 'duck tractor'!

And speaking of ducks, the chickens are having thoughts of converting. Here is our main pasture, with much of it in several inches of water. Perhaps all that water in the creek is not running off from our farm!

All pictures taken about 9am on Christmas Eve.

I was able to wade across the creek today, Christmas, and was saved the more than four mile round trip to service the chickens by driving to my nieghbor's house on the other side of the creek.
